About

I’m Daniel and DVZ on Baseball is my digital home where I talk about all things Baseball. Since I can remember I’ve always been obsessed with sports. Growing up in a sports mad country like South Africa I played rugby and cricket and watched almost any sport that was on TV in those days. Strangely enough I never played a single game of Baseball in my life. It just wasn’t that big of a sport in South Africa.  However, like two soulmates destined to meet and fall in love, Baseball and I found each other somewhere in the late eighties. I remember watching some local games in Cape Town with my dad and I remember thinking Baseball isn’t too different from Cricket and I could be good at this. I never played a game though as I was fully committed to cricket at that stage and none of my mates played Baseball. My first memory of watching professional baseball was somewhere in the early nineties watching the Braves on TV, especially Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and my all time favorite player, Chipper Jones. Since then I’ve fallen head over heels for Baseball and I’ve been a fan ever since. So much so that I’ve now (25 + years later) decided that I love Baseball so much that I want to write about it…every day. So here we are. Enjoy and feel free to leave a comment.
